Our Story

Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. was created out of a personal mission and a passion. The mission was for a good cup of coffee in Bethel, NY. The passion was a desire to connect with the community. So, being passionate women on a mission, in 2011, we opened Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. and moved a classic Dietrich 12 kilo coffee roaster into our storefront on Kauneonga Lake. Now, whether you buy it in our shop, or check us out online, we promise you will always get delicious, fresh-roasted coffee. And, if you’re ever in our neck of the woods (which just happens to be the home of the famous 1969 Woodstock Music Festival), we invite you to stop in and experience first-hand the drama and beauty of coffee roasting. We know you love coffee, but does your coffee love you back? Ours does.

Our Commitment

Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. is committed to Coffee with Integrity. This means we only use the very best Organic (O), Fair Trade (FT), Naturally Farmed (NF) and Rainforest Alliance (RA) coffee beans, produced with respect for the environment and the farmers. We roast all our coffee in small batches to maintain the character of the beans and have them bagged and ready for you to enjoy in a few days -- not weeks or months. We focus on having as little environmental impact as possible, so we use compostable service items and recycle up to 95% of waste. Also, as part our commitment to our communities, we donate a portion of our profits to local nonprofit and community outreach programs.

Our Value

Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. produces the freshest, most exceptional coffee for all our customers. We are known for our small batch roasting so beans travel straight from the roaster to your bag, and shipped out right away. That's Fresh!

We are also in a unique position, being so close to major ports of entry in both New York City and New Jersey, at the same time. Coffee brokers keep their offices near storage warehouses. This allows them to personally drop in, visit their brokers and almost always ìcupî coffee in their lab (cupping is a term used in the industry to evaluate various qualities of a particular coffee bean). We drive directly to the warehouse where we select, inspect, and load the coffees into our van. Not many Roasters are able to hand select and oversee their own inventory directly from the importers, and this ability is another reason why we are able to create premiere coffee.

Our History

Java Love, owned and operated by Jodie Dawson and Kristine Petrik, is formerly Hudson Valley Coffee Roasters, Inc., from Newburgh, NY. Jodie & Kristine are homeowners in Sullivan County and couldn't get a good cup of coffee. They set out on an adventure in search of the ultimate coffee and ended up finding Trish Huber and her partners who wanted to entrust their business with people who would carry on the same great name and quality established by HVCR.

Jodie & Kristine fell in love with the beautiful Dietrich IR-12 roaster and its capabilities and moved the roaster and the company to Bethel, NY, where the shop is located 5 miles from the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the original site of 1969 Woodstock. The new shop is in the historic Beekman Mill Village, right on Kauneonga Lake, across the street from the Fat Lady CafÈ.

HCVR began its life as a small coffee house. It was nestled halfway between NYC and New York State's capitol, Albany, located on the west bank of the majestic Hudson River.

HVCR, started in a small storefront, with just a few tables, an espresso machine, and a 12 kilo Diedrich Coffee Roaster that produced unbelievable coffee. It did not take long, in this Hudson River community, for the word to spread about the best coffee in town and within two years HVCR had to move. They settled into a wonderful old factory building alive with dignity and natural beauty.

At that location, HVCR, maintained a very successful business; a charming coffeehouse with a homey, friendly atmosphere and an integral part of Newburgh's renewal. For 15 years, Hudson Valley Coffee Roasters provided great food, delicious homemade desserts, and terrific coffees.

What HVCR learned is that as coffee roasters grow, most tend to upgrade their equipment in an effort to keep up with demand, a natural reaction to success, and purchase larger roasters. However, specialty grade coffees need to be handled in small batches, under constant supervision of an experienced Roast Master. The flavor, body, and aroma of small batch roasting are undeniably superior. As the new owners of HVCR , we will maintain the integrity of our coffee roasting process to bring you the best cup of coffee around.
